FCH2RAIL HRS
CNH2
The requirements
The CNH2 (Centro Nacional del Hidrógeno), a key player in the FCH2RAIL project funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership and the European Union, requested our expertise to document and showcase the development, construction, testing, demonstration, and approval of its Hydrogen Refueling Station (HRS).
The HRS is crucial for supplying hydrogen to the demonstrator train (another key component of this strategic European project), allowing various configurations and great ease of transportation, thanks to its advanced design.
To certify its participation in the project, CNH2 required us to produce a high-quality audiovisual including aerial shots in three specific locations: Zaragoza, Madrid, and Vigo.
Our approach
To meet CNH2's requirements, we adopted a comprehensive and multifaceted approach, proposing the addition of a series of 3D animation scenes to illustrate the different modules of the system (containers) and their functions, based on the client's requirements.
Planning / Pre-production
At the beginning of the project, meetings were held with the client to understand the complexities of the HRS and its role in the FCH2RAIL project.
Based on the information gathered, a detailed storyboard and a shot list were developed to capture the key features of the HRS.
On-location Filming
A human team equipped with UHD cameras and drones was deployed at the locations with railway connections specified by the client: CAF (manufacturing facilities in Zaragoza), the military complex "El Goloso" (Madrid), and Stellantis (Vigo).
At each location, high-resolution images and aerial views of the HRS were captured, focusing on its assembly-disassembly, transportation, and operation, highlighting its modularity and portability.
3D Animations
We created a detailed 3D model of the HRS, focusing on its four 20-foot containers: Dispenser, two Storage Containers, and Compressor.
Based on this3D scene, animations were developed to show hydrogen storage, the compression process, and the transfer of hydrogen to the demonstrator train's storage tanks.
Finally, we integrated these 3D animations into the final video to provide a clear and engaging explanation of the HRS components and functions.
Post-production
With the footage captured and the 3D animations rendered, we proceeded to develop the audiovisual elements that would contribute to cohesively presenting the video, making it informative.
To achieve this, we added voice-overs, subtitles (close captioning), and on-screen graphisms to appropriately guide all the required information to the viewer.
Of course, we ensured that the final video met the branding guidelines and the overall requirements of the FCH2RAIL project.
Mastering
We delivered a polished, high-quality video that effectively showcased the key features of the HRS and its role in the FCH2RAIL project.
We provided CNH2 with various formats of the video for use in presentations, online platforms, and other promotional materials.
The outcome
The final video highlights the innovative aspects of the HRS, emphasizing its modularity and portability, and showcasing its key role in advancing hydrogen technologies in railways.
The combination of footage captured at the various locations where the hydrogen station has been in service, along with the illustrative 3D animations, provides a comprehensive and engaging view of CNH2's leading role in the European FCH2RAIL project.
